KHUVSGUL LAKE

Khuvsgul was established in 1931. It is famous for tourist top attractions. It covers 103 sq.km. Murun is a capital of Khuvsgul. It is located 1283 m high above sea level and Murun is 692 km far away from Ulaanbaatar. To the north, Khuvsgul aimag borders with Russian federation. It is place with good infrastructure. In summer, Khuvsgul is full of tourists. They have some ethnic groups and Darkhad is main ethnic. Highest peak is Delgerkhan mountain which is 3491 m high above sea level. The average altitude is 1650-2050 m above sea level.

CNN features Khuvsgul is the best place for travelling. Khuvsgul Lake is the deepest lake in Central Asia as established. It is 1645 m above sea level, 136 km long and 262 m deep. It is the second most voluminous freshwater lake in Asia and holds almost 70% of Mongolia's fresh water and 0.4% of all the fresh water in the world. The water of Khuvsgul Lake is pure and fresh, minerals, salts and organic stuffs. Over 100 rivers and springs taking their sources from snow-capped majestic high mountains flow into Khuvsgul Lake. This lake is second in Asia and 14th largest in the world. Khuvsgul Lake contains 93.6 % of total surface fresh water of Mongolia and 1% of world fresh water. Khuvsgul Lake is surrounded by beautiful high mountains of the Khoridol Saridag and Bayan Mountain Ranges, along the west shore.
